Fireseeds North Infrastructure travels to Costa Rica to present technical workshops

Fireseeds North Infrastructure traveled to San José, Costa Rica to present workshops at LanammeUCR that focused on highlighting innovative practices in road safety and asset management to Costa Rican public and private stakeholders, as well as university students. LanammeUCR is at the forefront of transportation engineering research and was an integral partner in the development and organisation of the workshops. The objective of the workshops was to help develop the overall quality and safety of roadway facilities for all road users in the country and exchange knowledge and lessons learned related to the implementation of these practices. In addition, Fireseeds North Infrastructure evaluated the safety of an intersection in San José using video near-miss analysis and surrogate safety indicators. The firm also performed a road safety audit of a heavily utilized freight route connecting San José to the Atlantic coast. Fireseeds North Infrastructure met with a number of municipal and federal organizations during the trip to discuss current and upcoming road infrastructure, safety and accessibility programs. Costa Rica has put forward some very impressive objectives related to infrastructure development and is well positioned to deliver on these goals through innovative research, grassroots initiatives and government sponsored programs. We look forward to returning to Costa Rica in the near future to pursue a number of exciting opportunities.
